Partnership with ADHS

Arizona State Legislature SB.1248 (2006) appropriations were given to the Arizona Department of Health for osteoporosis related services.

AZOC is partnering with the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) to expand osteoporosis screening, resources and prevention education across the state.

The Arizona Department of Health Osteoporosis Program in collaboration AZOC and the Well Women HealthCheck Program, are conducting a pilot program which screens for osteoporosis. The Well Women Program, provides breast and cervical cancer screening to women aged 40-64 and cervical cancer screening for women aged 18-64.

Part of the osteoporosis program is a pilot bone density screening with the Well Woman program in three rural counties, Coconino, Yuma and Yavapai. http://www.wellwomanhealthcheck.org/

ADHS also supports the Building Better Bones program with elementary schools in several county health departments across Arizona.
